March through May is when every Guna parent and grandparent walks into a bookshop holding a folded list of textbook names. This guide is for the people who want to do it without queueing twice.
When to pre-order
- February: schools publish booklists. Take a clear photo or pick up the printed copy.
- Early March: stationery stores receive their first shipments of NCERT and state-board books from publishers.
- Mid-March to early April: the rush. Common books sell out at smaller shops. Pre-order or wait two weeks.
- Late April through May: top-ups for kids who joined late or switched sections.
What is usually on a Guna school booklist
- NCERT main textbooks (English, Hindi, Maths, Science, Social Science, Sanskrit)
- MP Board books for state-board schools
- 2–3 reference / sample-paper guides per subject
- Subject-wise notebooks and registers (often a specific page-count requirement)
- Geometry box, drawing book, lab record, project files
- Class-appropriate art and craft supplies
How Statbo handles booklists
WhatsApp the booklist photo to +91 88395 81370. We confirm availability and pricing the same day, hold the books, and ship in 15 minutes or hold for in-store pickup. For the four partnered schools, we keep the full Class 1–12 list in stock through the season.
How to save money on school books
- Order NCERT directly from Statbo — we don’t mark them up. NCERT books are sold at the printed MRP.
- Look for the official sample-paper guide first; the third-party guides often cover the same content.
- Check with kids one year ahead of you — second-hand books in usable condition save 50–70%.
- If your child is repeating a subject across classes (English literature, for example), some books cross-over.
